Why did you originally join Trident?
|I moved to London from Brisbane – having fallen for the UK when I backpacked around Europe. After temping for a few months, I wanted something more stable. The agency sent me along to a small surveying firm in Holborn and 1/2 hour later, I had a job as a secretary to Mr Roger Watts!
It’s no exaggeration to say the main reason I stayed with Trident for 20 years has been because of the three founding Directors, Matt Clare, Trevor Dowd & Roger Watts. They’ve been a great support to me, both professionally and personally.
What has been your highlight?
The support I’ve received, not only to allow me to expand my role as finance manager and bring in an amazing team. But also from a personal point of view, when I moved from London to Bristol to Shropshire.
How has your role evolved?
Joining Trident as a very inexperienced secretary, was a steep learning curve. As the company grew, I became more involved in finance while supporting Matt (who took on the role of finance director). Being given the chance to take the role as finance manager was a great opportunity and one I snapped up, Trident has since supported me gain qualifications in this area.
What are your best memories?
My best memories must be our annual Trident Days, the whole company gathers together and you get chance to catch up with colleagues who you might not see during the year.
There are so many stories, but one of my favourites is our 2001 Trident Day trip to Dublin. A small group of us took off to Dublin for a day of fun and sightseeing, and after we had sampled almost every pub in and around Temple Bar, we somehow ended up in an impromptu game of touch rugby in the street!
For Trident’s ten year anniversary in 2008, we were all flown off to Barcelona for a wonderful weekend of good food, laughter and sangria.
