Our purpose

To work in partnership with our clients to conserve and enhance the built environment in a way that protects and improves the health of people and the planet.

Our vision

To be recognised as a forward thinking, employee owned, market leading commercial practise with our ESG factors embedded into our advice and projects. To become known as the UKs go-to building consultancy and project management practise.

We also work to a set of core values that are the principles, behaviours and beliefs that are at the heart of our business and drive our business decisions:

  • We are proactive and responsive.
  • We are collaborative and promote a team ethic.
  • We are pioneering through our use of technology and willing to evolve.
  • We are approachable and sociable.

Our journey

In 1998, a shared vision ignited a new approach to building surveying. Roger Watts, Trevor Dowd, and Matt Clare dreamt of a client-centric practice that fostered a positive work environment. Their initial plan – a Central London office – soon blossomed organically. Offices sprouted in Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and finally, Leeds. Through technological advancements and brand refinements, Trident’s core values have remained constant: prioritising employee well-being and fostering a culture of continuous learning. This commitment culminated in a bold move in September 2022 – Trident became an employee-owned trust, placing ownership in the hands of our people, empowering then to shape the company’s future.

Trident in Numbers

“It would be no exaggeration to say that becoming an employee owned business marked an epoch in the history of Trident Building Consultancy. It has been a year of tremendous change, and one that has set the foundations not just for the future direction of the business, but for our renewed values and ethos, and the way in which we regard and appreciate one another. I firmly believe this was the start of something monumental for Trident and we will only build on that.”
Dan Roe, Managing Director
