Building and Fire Safety

Clerk of Works

Our Clerk of Works service provides independent on-site monitoring to ensure that fire safety remediation works are delivered to the required standard of both workmanship quality and compliance with Building Regulations.

As an impartial presence on site, our Clerks of Works pair in-depth experience with contractor relationship-building skills, to help safeguard outcomes.  Clients are reassured by our professional verification that measures are implemented as intended, and that any deviations or errors are identified and addressed promptly.

This is particularly important on fire safety remediation projects, where workmanship, detailing, and the correct installation are not only a value for money matter but are critical to the safety of building occupants.

During remediation works, our Clerks of Works regularly attend site to monitor installation activities, representing our client to observe progress and assess the work against the relevant Building Regulations, approved specifications, and manufacturers’ guidance. Clear, structured site reports are issued to highlight compliance, record progress, and identify any defects, non-conformances, or areas requiring further attention.

In this role we can also provide oversight of the Principal Contractor’s quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes. This includes the progressive review of inspection and test plans, method statements, material certifications, and installation records. In providing QA and QC reports, we support the development and maintenance of the Golden Thread of information, ensuring that accurate, reliable records are captured throughout the construction phase.

Our approach is collaborative and proportionate. We work closely with the wider project team to resolve issues efficiently, reduce rework, and maintain programme momentum.

By combining regular site presence with structured reporting and documentation review, our Clerk of Works service provides clients with confidence that remediation works are being delivered safely, compliantly, and to the required standard, supporting both regulatory obligations and long-term building performance and value.
