Last Friday, June 21st wasn’t just another day on the calendar, it was #EODay – the biggest celebration of employee ownership.

We shout about being an employee-owned business, it’s something we’re really proud of, therefore we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion.

Where it began:

Trident became an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT) in September 2022, and it marked a year of tremendous change for us.

We’ve always valued our people, Team Trident, as our best asset. The transition to an EOT empowers them, giving them a controlling interest in Trident, not just financially but in decision making.

We set up a network of committees that cover all areas of the business and encourage everyone to get involved, have their say and be employee owners.

Showing our EO Pride.

To mark EO Day, we switched things up and came together in our teams to encourage conversation, ask questions, and celebrate Trident. We made sure to wear purple, the colour of  EO Day, to really show our pride.

We started the day off by holding a photo competition, where offices submitted pictures of themselves representing Trident’s core values. Our Edinburgh office took the victory and won themselves a prize for the office.

Later in the day, while enjoying some sweet treats, we joined a virtual lunch and learn with our Leadership Team. This was a fantastic session with lots of discussion, where they answered FAQ’s and talked about what working for an EOT means for us.

In the afternoon, we all got out of the office for some team building activities and to reflect on the day.

Looking ahead

Our transition to an EOT set the foundations for the future of the business, and we’re excited to continue to build on this as we learn and move forward.

Over the past year, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make Trident an even better place to work, and this is reflected by our feature in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work awards 2024.

We’re also attending the EO conference in November, and our team can’t wait to make new connections in the EO sector, to learn and share ideas. But this is only the beginning, and we have lost more exciting changes coming between now and the end of the year.
