Last month, Team Trident took part in Tour de LandAid, an event in which property professionals battle it out for a variety of cycling jerseys all to raise money for LandAid.
We’ve become well accustomed to LandAid’s cycling event, having a series of successful teams over the years. Our 2022 team placed third overall, and one team member won the silver jersey, all to raise vital funds for LandAid, a charity with one aim – end youth homelessness.
Therefore, this year in order to encourage everyone’s inner cyclist, we took a new approach by installing static bikes in our offices for the event, meaning anyone could take part. It didn’t matter if you could cycle 1km or 100km, every KM would help break the cycle of youth homelessness.
In order to up the antics, we introduced our very own office vs office competition to run alongside Tour de LandAid, meaning our KM’s went against each other as well as other property professionals.
If you followed along on our social media, you will have seen it got competitive quickly. London, home to some of our keen cyclists, took an early lead, and dominated the leaderboard quickly, but it was the middle of the board where it was most competitive.
Our Edinburgh team had a slow start, clocking up only a handful of KM in the first few days, but once office secretary Jennifer Lennie entered the competition, they shot up the leaderboard taking third place despite being our smallest team.
The final leaderboard of our competition was:
London- 677KM
Leeds- 485KM
Edinburgh- 352KM
Birmingham- 199KM
Glasgow – 73KM
We had a fun couple of weeks, but this was all in effort to raise money for LandAid, who fund local organisations up and down the UK to provide immediate care and opportunities for those experiencing homelessness.
Can you imagine, not having a safe space that you can call home. Where you can completely relax, rest and be authentically yourself, free from both physical and mental danger. Well, did you know that: 129’000 young people experience homelessness in the last twelve months?
That’s why the work that LandAid does is vital, and the funds raised from this year’s event will support life-changing services for 16–24 year-olds experiencing homelessness.
Therefore, we are proud that a member of Team Trident won the most important jersey of all: the Green Jersey for fundraising. Our Managing Director Daniel Roe, took home the jersey for being the top individual fundraiser, raising over £1000 by himself. – Well done Dan.
A massive thankyou and well done to everyone at Trident who got involved cycling and fundraising for LandAid. If you wish to sponsor the team, you can still do so here: https://join.landaid.org/fundraisers/TeamTrident2023 – Any donation will help change the cycle of youth homelessness.
